iTunes Backup File Information
Photos are stored within the iTunes Backup folder which is created when the device syncs with the computer. These backup files have long, unreadable names (such as ‘657dfsr4567df08ffd599′) and have no file extension appended. The data within these backup files is updated every time the device is connected to the computer as the first step of the iTunes sync process.
Besides photos, the backup files actually contain all personal data held on the device as well as the phone’s settings, app data and app organization. All media content is also saved within this folder.
